Evidence That Public Education Has Failed Us

Ever look around and wonder, in a land in which a hefty chunk of our tax dollars is being spent on implenting free public education, testing new educational theories and arguing for more progressive educational policies, why are so many people acting like they never learned anything at all in school?  As an educator, perhaps I wonder about this more than most.  But on that tack, here’s a list of some random observations that may give credence to that idea that public education has failed us.  If you’d like to add your own, please do so in the comments section below.  (And if you’re reading this on Facebook, please use the blog’s comment system and not Facebook’s, otherwise people in the non-Facebook world won’t be able to see and appreciate your profundity and wit.)
