#Movember

Yeah I did it.  I grew a mustache for Movember.  If you don’t know, Movember is a yearly campaign during the month of November, during which men grow facial hair to raise money for men’s health issues, most notably prostate and testicular cancer. If you’e like to donate to my campaign click here.

In the interest of vanity, I’m making a record of the growth of the dead caterpillar above my lip. In reverse chronological order, here’s a record of my facial hirsuteness:

As of right now, I’ve raised $390, which I think is pretty good. Thanks to my donors –Alec, Zach, Michael, Natalia, Natasha, Kathy, Charmaine, Andrew, Dave, Javier, and Eleni.

In other news, here’s a brief from the newsletter of Emerging Health Leaders in Ottawa. It contains a few photos of a presentation that I did with Donald Sutherland (the doctor, not the actor) and Shanna Sunley:

I’d like to thank the EHL for inviting us to do the above presentation. I’d also like to thank the University of Ottawa’s Health Sciences Students Association for inviting me to give a big public lecture last week titled, “Paradigms of Perception”, which allowed me to expound upon some of the bigger philosophical ideas that I rarely get a chance to talk about in class.

At the last second, I decided to try out Google Hangouts as a method of live broadcasting the lecture. It sort of worked. I hadn’t planned well, so the audio is crappy and the video choppy. Plus, it cuts out at the 16 minute mark. But if you’re interested, check it out. Do keep in mind that I had a greasy ‘stache for Movember, and a fez in honour of the 50th anniversary of Dr Who.

UPDATE: Since today is shave day, I decided to try one last thing: to reclaim the “Chaplin” …or the “Oliver Hardy”. (Not to be confused with the “Hitler”):
